Delicious Sticky Banana Pudding!

This recipe is a nice easy one that the kids can help with too! C loves it, he calls it “Sticky Sticky Yum” but I thought it needed a more obvious name.

What you need:

  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 1tsp maple syrup
  • 1 banana
  • 70g self raising flour
  • 70g soft butter
  • 70g caster sugar
  • 1 egg
  • ½ tsp mixed spice
  • butter for greasing your tin
How to make it:
Grease a normal sized loaf tin to stop the pudding from sticking. Mix the golden syrup and maple syrup and use it to cover the bottom of the tin.
Peel and slice the banana and put into the tin on top of the syrup.
Beat together the flour, butter, sugar, egg and mixed spice and pour over the banana, smoothing the top into a nice finish.
Bake in a preheated oven at 160°C fan/180°C/Gas 4 for 25-30mins, until risen and golden brown.
Serve warm with ice cream or custard.
                                                                                                        Banana and Toffee Pudding
You can adapt this recipe by using a pre- made toffee sauce in the base instead of syrup or using toffee sauce and apple slices for a Sticky Toffee Apple pudding.

How much fun can you have?

How much fun can you have with cleaning the house?

If you are C then a whole lot!

The vacuum cleaner adapters are a fire hose, everything is on fire and so shouts of “Fireman C, to the rescue” are heard around the house! It can also be used as a microphone, light sabre or snake!

The sweeping brush is amazing, you can sweep, pretend its a horse and put the vacuum cleaner adapter onto the handle and lift the brush up and down so that the adapter uses it as a slide. You can also ask mummy to hold said brush so that you can slide down the brush like a Fireman’s pole.

“Cleaner Cleaner Cleaner” is the shout while he attempts to dust

“Moppa Moppa Moppa” while he mops the floor

You get the drift!

The main problem with cleaning the house is that no matter how clean it gets, C is AWESOME at making it a mess in minutes. By tea time the floor will be covered in crumbs and there will be toys everywhere you look. Oh well, tomorrow is another day.

The overall favourite toy in 0ur house is Penguin, otherwise known as Penguino or Gweenie. He is a TY Beanie, much loved, slightly grubby and he has a squished beak!

Penguin has been in the family for 4yrs, he belonged to C’s cousin (M) first, he was so loved that we bought M a second one in case of emergencies. We now have 3, one for C, one for LissyLou and one at grandma and grandad’s house, they all have squished beaks from being chomped on by teething babies!

Penguin has his own song and dance. he is good for cuddling, chewing and throwing! I’ve never known a toy that has been so loved by such different children, and for so long. Other toys come and go, we have different favourites depending on mood but they always go back to Penguin.

C reliably tells me “Mummy, I LOVE Penguin, he is my best friend!”
