Clayton Hotel Manchester Airport Review
Prior to our family holiday to Spain recently we decided to stay at the Clayton Hotel at Manchester Airport. Booked for us by Holiday Extras it meant that we could save time on travelling for our early morning flight which appealed with two children.
We arrived at tea time on the evening before our flight. The car park had plenty of free spaces and was a short stroll to the main entrance, it was an open air carpark, not a multi-storey as we expected but it was easy to park and convenient. Parking costs £10 per night, you pay on checkout and are provided with a code to use to exit the car park.
Whilst we checked in we helped ourself to the refreshing water, a welcome treat on a muggy Manchester day.
Our room was on the third floor. A comfortable. but quite plain room, that suited us as a family. It had two good sized double beds and a spotlessly clean bathroom, even with two large beds it still felt quite spacious. The room was supplied with soap/shower gel dispensers and a selection of tea/coffee etc with a kettle to make warm drinks. A good start.
We ate in the hotel bar, sharing a burger and a pizza. Both were traditional pub grub type fayre and were big enough to share for a light evening meal. The menu was quite varied and there was a separate children’s menu too.
We headed up to our room early, needing an early night when we knew we had to get up before 4am. During the night we found our room to be too hot (no aircon) and very noisy. The aircraft noise was very loud, particularly 8pm to 11pm, not ideal when you are trying to get an early night with a flight to catch. The noise from the corridors was also loud, we could hear every footstep and in the early hours of the morning plenty of doors slamming as people headed off for the flights. We left at just after 4am.
Great location in terms of getting to the airport, just a very short walk or quick shuttle bus would lead you straight to your terminal. We were parking the multi storey at Terminal 1 and it was just a minute in the car. Very convenient.
Ideal if you live too far away from the airport to get there in time for your flight, or if you are nervous about traffic etc. I don’t think we would stay again, it isn’t a massive drive for us and I think a broken nights sleep in my own bed would be preferable.
We received a nights stay at the Clayton Hotel Manchester Airport in exchange for this review.
