I’m sure you’ve heard of Groupon, they offer daily deals for discounts on anything from restaurants to beauticians to hotels but did you know they also have products like dvd players, beds and cameras? I was given a voucher to try out Groupon and see what savings were available.
When I first booked a deal through Groupon I was impressed by how easy it was to make the booking with Groupon. I received a voucher a couple of days later with instructions on how to book the deal, an overnight stay in a Spa hotel with a host of goodies thrown in, the offer was for £99, a saving of £98! Sadly, this is where my problems started, the hotel told me I couldn’t book the deal I had chosen on a Saturday night, it didn’t state that in their terms and conditions and quite frankly seemed like they were moving the goal posts to suit themselves. They could however offer me a lower valued deal on that day but I’d have to go back to Groupon and alter my voucher and then ring them back and hope they could fit me in. The lower voucher deal really was no where near as good value so I didn’t want to go for that, hence why I’d chosen the more expensive option at the start!
So I went back to Groupon, they quickly refunded the cost after a couple of emails as they agreed that it wasn’t my fault that the hotel had changed the details when I rang. So back to the drawing board I went, now this is where you have to be careful with Groupon because weeks passed before I saw a deal that really appealed but when I did I found at 2/3 deals that all appealed and I ended up spending way more money than I first would have but got some great bargains in the process.
Then I saw a deal for a portable DVD player, it came with a bag and a selection of DVD’s for just £49.99, saving £75 on the normal price. I placed the order on the 9th March 2013 and received the item on the 15th March 2013. I have to say that the service was great and the product was exactly what I hoped for, the kids are thrilled with the DVDs and the player!
I’ve also bought some health and beauty vouchers since which I haven’t had chance to use yet but which represented great savings on the standard prices! I’ll fill you in on those deals at a later date! I bought one for me, one for my sister and a great value one for Daddy Ramblings which will be a nice treat for him!
I have to say Groupon can be a bit addictive, I’ve used it in the past for local restaurants and saved a fortune, it’s nice to know you will still get the quality but at a lower price!
If you haven’t tried groupon then I seriously you give it a go, even if you can’t find a good local deal, the ‘Goods’ section holds some great bargains!
